very cool :)
I love the explorative and atmospheric gameplay but God Calm Down With The Enemy Rate, I'd get invested into looking around and I get stopped by a tier one enemy that is neither difficult nor quick, the multi-word difficulty with the 'boss' doesn't feel like something that makes the boss any more different than the common enemies to the point I'm wondering why it wasn't with them too.
I love everything about this aesthetically, but the final version should probably rebalance its enemies and complicate its gameplay since...well...the boss was over in less than 10 seconds (and also froze).
A couple bugs: the tier 4 enemy (which i encountered before the tier 3 enemy) seems to take away your 5th heart when the battle starts (the one I have no idea the importance of, same goes for 6th)), and finishing a battle in front of an interactable requires you to move back and forward to interact (compounded by the enemy rate).
Excited to play the final version!
Oh my god, this was amazing! The mixture of dungeon crawling controls with typing in black and white makes me think a little of Cryptmaster (Given that I liked this, maybe I should go give that a try...)
Firstly, the fact that you did this in just two weeks is incredible.
I loved the visual style, the mixture of halftone photobashed (or what appeared to be photobashed) enemies and entities, along with the color-inverted illustrations, and the simple, blocky, digital layout. A couple of times I thought "yknow, it'd be good if this game had-" and then the game would come along and do something similar right after I'd thought it (health crates, multi-word or number combinations that you needed to get right, etc). The sound design is excellent as well! Very textural and crunchy. The only issue I had with it is that, to exit typing mode, you have to press the Escape key - and as I was playing it fullscreen in browser, it kept kicking me out of full screen mode! >.<
But aside from that small gripe - this is fantastic. Well done!
This is so cool!
Incredible aesthetic, incredible twist on dungeon crawling combat, incredible characters! Give me 5 levels in different flavours and sell it for five bucks on steam! You're cooking so hard here!
